Q: Tell me about your job
A: I’m currently the second-shift supervisor for paint applications, flexline, in-house blending (IHB) and sanding. I get the opportunity to oversee all our paint processes, whether that’s receiving paints, mixing paints, applying paints, trialing new theories, or getting material through the rework process as efficiently as possible. Thankfully, I’m blessed to work with some great team members that make all of these things possible and allow us to get finished material to our customers.
Q: What did you do prior to Linetec?
A: Prior to Linetec I was employed at the Footlocker (Eastbay) Distribution Center. Before I left the company my role was as a Training Specialist. As new hires entered the facility I would spend the first week of employment acting as their coach and mentor cross training them in several different departments to set them up for success. I would be working with a brand new team of 10-15 associates each week during our peak hiring season in preparation for the holiday shopping rush.
Q: What is your favorite part of your job?
A: Without a doubt, my favorite part of my role is the ability to interact with my team members to problem-solve and to create new and effective ways to expedite our process. It’s always exciting to see how passionate our associates are about what they do. Allowing them to have opportunity to implement their own creative ideas is a big reason why we continue to succeed as a whole.
Q: What poses the biggest challenges for you?
A: Right now, the biggest challenge I face is ensuring that we have adequate resources to allow my teams to be successful. We continue to live in unprecedented times with COVID continually posing new challenges to our labor, supplies, and customers. Finding ways to best utilize what resources we have available in order to succeed changes daily. Staying one step ahead of these continual changes is what keeps us moving forward.
Q: What is something you are looking forward to?
A: In the immediate future, I’m looking forward to our annual holiday shutdown. This is a time I will spend with friends and family reflecting on what has been yet another wonderful year. It’s an opportunity to see those I wouldn’t normally get to see. Given how continually busy we are, I intend to take full advantage of it.
Q: Do you collect anything?
A: I actually collect sports memorabilia. While growing my collection has slowed as of late, it is something I am still passionate about. Some would call me a fanatic when it comes to sports. In all honesty, they’d probably be making an accurate assessment.
Q: What is something people don’t know about you?
A: One thing not everyone knows about me is, while I’m a huge sports fan and love my football Sundays, I’m actually not a Packers fan. I will proudly support the 49ers no matter how many times they may attempt to break my heart.
Q: If Linetec gave you a surprise three day paid break to rest and recuperate, what would you do with those three days?
A: This is a tough one. Honestly, I would be entirely happy with a little weekend getaway to the Northwoods with my girlfriend to spend some time exploring the beauty of the outdoors. There are so many things to do and see within our little state and I intend to see as many as I can.
Q: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: If I was to eat only one meal a day for the rest of my life, I would probably have to go with some wonderfully smoked BBQ ribs.
Q: What always cheers you up when you think about it?
A: Anytime I’m feeling a little down and need a pick me up, I think about how lucky I am to have incredibly supportive friends and family. Regardless of where I’ve been in life, they’ve always found a way to be there for me and push me in the right direction. The right people should challenge you to do and be better. When you find those people never let them go because they’re the greatest asset one could ever hope to obtain.
