Several commercial and educational building projects showcasing Linetec’s finishing services have been featured recently in Architects’ Guide to Glass and Metal and its related glassguides.com website.
Tubelite-RSP_MN-BakerBldg_004PaulCrosby-webThe 90-year-old Baker Center in downtown Minneapolis was renovated with a prominent new building entry that unifies four buildings as one. Delivering both an updated appearance and improved performance for the project, Linetec provided the thermal strut, thermal pour and debridged, plus the clear anodize finish on Tubelite Inc.’s curtainwall and storefront systems.
“The goal of the design was to honor the historic aspects of the buildings, while creating unique modern spaces to support today’s mobile worker,” stated David Serrano, AIA, a principal with RSP, the architectural firm heading up The Baker Center’s design. “The result takes advantage of the art deco bones of the building, while introducing forward-thinking amenities like the concierge desk and rooftop deck.”

Linetec finished Wausau’s framing members in Slate Gray Fluropon® and Dark Bronze Fluropon fluoropolymer paint coatings, plus Class I black anodize. In addition, Linetec painted the aluminum panel system from Firestone in fluoropolymer coatings of Stone White Duranar®, Gun Barrel Fluropon Classic II and Block 45 Silver Fluropon Classic II.
Designed by Works Progress Architecture, Slate spans 147,000 square feet and offers 75 apartments on the upper six floors; creative co-working office workspace on floors 2-4; and retail space at street level
UofPa_NewCollegeHouse25-72dpiThe University of Pennsylvania’s New College House is the first new student residence on campus since 1972. Designed by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson in collaboration with the University, the 198,000-square-foot, 350-bed building promotes sustainable, 21st century living and learning, and is pursuing LEED® Silver certification.
Supporting the project’s energy-efficient and environmentally responsible operations, Linetec provided the thermal improvement services and painted finishes for Wausau’s curtainwall, windows and sun shades.
On the windows, a Dove Gray color was specified. On the curtainwall and sun shades, a custom Gettysburg Metallic color was used. All of these aluminum components were finished in a three-coat, 70 percent polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) resin-based, liquid paint.
