WAUSAU – Linetec’s president calls the last couple of years in Wausau “crazy.” The company has been successful enough to add about 200 new workers in the past two years.
Linetec does high-quality painting and anodizing on architectural materials. Those are types of finishing work.
Linetec is now looking to add 40 or 50 more workers.
“It’s obviously a very robust construction market right now, which is creating a lot of opportunities for companies like us,” said Linetec President Rick Marshall. “It’s been a very crazy couple of years for the people in this company. We’re very fortunate and blessed, I guess, to have that level of growth.”
Many manufacturers in northcentral Wisconsin have struggled to find qualified local candidates for their open jobs.
Linetec has been successful in finding people to fill their openings.
“It’s not easy work. It can be a lot of overtime. But people come here and they stay here because they enjoy the people they work with,” Marshall said. “We’ve been fortunate. We’ve been able to hire for positions we need, with pretty darn good success. Part of that comes from the positive company culture we have here.”
Linetec is also transitioning to a more flexible shift format. It will include 12-hour shifts in which employees only work only three or four days a week.
